Concentration Of Hair Dye Causes Fire

EL JEBEL -- Firefighters were called to a fire in an El Jebel home that resulted from a concentration of hair dye in a bathroom.

Basalt Fire Department said that by the time they were called to the home in Pitkin County Friday the home owner had the fire pretty much out.

Both the 35-year-old woman and her three-year-old child were treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The statement said a build-up of fumes from the hair coloring chemicals in the unventilated bathroom caused the fire.
