Staten Island Girl Suffered Third-Degree Chemical Burns
This is one bad hair day that lasted too long for a New York teenager.
Samantha Chesney was 14 in 2004 when she visited the Allure hair salon on Staten Island, only to come out so badly burned she needed plastic surgery.
Now she's won $250,000 in damages to settle a civil lawsuit with the salon.
Her attorney says it is definitely a fair outcome. Pete Reid says what the hair salon did was irresponsible.
Samantha had gone to Allure to have highlights put on her hair. But the chemicals were so strong that they left third-degree burns. She also had a lesion the size of a dollar coin on the back of her head.
She had to have four cosmetic surgeries over more than two years.
