The condition of a hair stylist found lying alongside Interstate 20 in Bossier City this past weekend has been upgraded to fair following another surgery.
Police are continuing to investigate what happened to 25-year-old Jessica Young, a former cheerleader for the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings. A motorist who also was a customer of Young at the salon where she worked spotted her lying near the Industrial Drive exit about 6 a.m. Sunday.
Friends said there was no indication she was hit by a car. Police, who are investigating whether she jumped, have questioned and released the man she was with Saturday night.
"Sunday morning, I got a call saying Jessica was found on the side of the interstate. Everything started running through my head," Young's father, Joe, said at LSU Hospital today.
Young suffered a bruised lung, broken rib, skull fracture and broken collarbone, her father said.
"You've just got to hug your kids every day," he said. "Love them and hug them and pay attention to what they're doing and who they're with. If anybody has any information, I would encourage them to tell the authorities."
If Young jumped from the moving vehicle on her own, it would not be considered a crime.
Police would not release details of their investigation but said they have more interviews to conduct.
