We're taking you into a groundbreaking classroom in Perrysburg. It's located in the back of a beauty salon.
Beauticians in Perrysburg are training to style hair, and at the same time, save battered women. At the center of this class is an idea: abuse victims confide in their cosmetologists long before they report attacks to police.
"He dragged her down the steps. You hear that sometimes. Sometimes they have bruises their cloths cover up." said Denise Soto, owner of Salon Professional Academy.
The school is putting students through domestic violence training so stylists will know how to identify abuse victims and get them into shelters. The inspiration for the class started after a client fell victim to a deadly case of domestic violence.
The class is being offered to more than six-thousand students at 50 academies nationwide.
