THREE trainee hairdressers from Uxbridge College are hoping to be top of the chops' at a national styling competition'.
Rattandeep Johl, 25, Mesrak Kaleab, 20, and Nana Akua Mills, 31, all successfully made it through the South England regional finals in Bournemouth two weeks ago.
The girls, who are all studying NVQ courses in Hair and Beauty Therapy, will now go to the national finals on March 5.
Mother-of-one Nana, who came third in the Afro Caribbean section of the competition, said: "It is really nerve-racking entering competitions but I love it and it fantastic to win.
"It is a lot of hard work but it is great to see the outcome.
"I want to become a really creative hairdresser who is well-known in the industry - and we want our salon to be known for its professionalism."
advertisementNana, who helps her sister Yaa Etsilpah run the Yana Hair Salon in Victoria Road, South Ruislip, was a financial advisor but decided to change to hair styling because she wanted to do something more creative.
In the regional competition on the February 6, Rattandeep came first in the Covergirl section, covering beauty and make-up.
Mesrak came second in the Afro-Carribbean section.
The girls train in the college's salon in the Hayes Community Campus, in Coldharbour Lane.
