DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Some Ohio college tuition costs as much as $20,000 per year, but some local parents might soon pay almost that much to send their children to a new day care center.
Crème de la Crème, which advertises premium-quality day care and preschool at its 15 locations, will open its first Ohio branch Monday in Deerfield Township.
The day-care center will have books, toys and games like any other, but it will also feature its own pool, castle, tennis courts, gift shop and hair salon.
"Children learn a lot of things through just the environment they are in," said Jody Martin, director of education.
"Even though they might be in the gym, we're still doing activities that tie into the curriculum but they're having fun along the way," Martin said. "They're exercising, they're learning and they're laughing."
Staff will also help children with their homework, which Martin said would allow parents to pick up their children and focus on family time.
The curriculum is based on research that shows children's brains are hard-wired to learn from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old, Martin said.
Many of the activities and facilities, such as an on-site television studio, are designed to promote self-esteem, Martin said.
"They're trying adult roles when they try to be the cameraman or newscaster or weathercaster," she said.
